Superannuation in your mid 40’s
Most of us in our mid 40’s are working hard, managing work or a business, and have a busy social and family life.
Managing your super and finances come in your priorities list at, well… normally it doesn’t get much of a mention.
Before you know it, you will be 60 (remember when you were 20!) …
And if you look back at age 60, I can guarantee many will say, “if only I had invested my super a little bit better”
So here is a tip – stay with me it’s not that hard – it could take you less than 30 minutes and the result could be …. life changing!!
All it takes is to:
- Check where your current super is. Call them.
- Look at the asset allocation.
- Look at the costs.
Now was that hard?
Ok, a couple of more steps to take:
- If your fund is not invested in the right asset allocation for you – change it!
- If your fund costs too much, or you don’t even know if they are charging too much, change it!
Fact:
A difference of 1% over 20 years could make a huge difference
In a like for like comparison over 20 years:
$200,000 invested with 3% costs would be worth $290,000 less than if that same $200,000 was invested in a fund with 1% costs.
