Frequently Asked Questions
Everything You Need to Know About Investing with Scientiam
Getting Started
Can I open an account online anytime?
Yes! You can open an account anytime by submitting an application through the Scientiam Investment Platform. The entire process is online and paperless, making it quick and convenient.
What types of accounts do you offer?
At Scientiam, you can choose between personal investment accounts and superannuation accounts — both designed to make investing simple and accessible.
We also make it easy to roll over your existing super into Scientiam, and we provide full support for self-managed super funds (SMSFs) and trust accounts, so you can manage your investments in the way that suits you best.
Do you have ready-made portfolios?
Yes — Scientiam offers a range of evidence-based, professionally designed portfolios you can choose from. They’re available for both investment accounts and superannuation accounts, making it easy to get started with a portfolio that’s already built to support your long-term goals.
Costs & Transparency
What are Scientiam’s fees?
At Scientiam, we believe investing should be simple, fair, and transparent. That’s why our fees are kept low, straightforward, and easy to understand. We never take commissions or payments from third parties — the only fees you pay are the ones you see, directly to us.
You can view a full breakdown in our Fee Summary, located in the footer of our website.
After Submitting Your Application
I’ve submitted my online application. What happens next?
Congratulations! Once your application is submitted, our team will set up your account and contact you with the next steps. You’re officially on your way to investing with confidence.
Why do I need a Macquarie Cash Management Account (CMA)?
The CMA is your central cash hub and connected to your portfolio. All deposits, withdrawals, and investment transactions flow through this account, keeping your money safe and organised.
Our Partners
Who are Dash and uXchange?
Dash provides the technology behind your account. Their system, uXchange, offers efficient, low-cost access to managed funds — without high admin fees. Important: Dash doesn’t control your investments. They simply provide the technology for reporting and transactions.
Who is Super Simplifier?
Super Simplifier is part of the DASH platform. It acts as the reporting and transaction provider for Scientiam’s superannuation accounts, ensuring your investments are administered securely and transparently. While Scientiam provides the investment experience, Super Simplifier handles the behind-the-scenes reporting, compliance, and transaction processing that keep your account running smoothly.
Investing & Portfolio Management
What is a Record of Transaction (ROT)?
A Record of Transaction is a document you receive every time there’s a change in your investments. It clearly shows:
-
Which managed funds or assets were bought or sold
-
Any estimated fees and brokerage
-
Any capital gain or loss
You’ll always review and electronically sign the ROT via DocuSign before the transaction is processed, giving you full control and transparency.
How will I know what I’m investing in?
Your ROT confirms exactly where your money is invested. In addition, you can log in to your investment account at any time to see your current portfolio holdings and investment breakdown.
I’ve deposited money — how do I invest them?
Once your funds are in your Cash Management Account (CMA), simply request a rebalance to have them invested. Contact us at support@scientiam.com.au or call 1300 389 410, and our team will handle the rest.
What is a rebalance?
A rebalance realigns your portfolio back to its target allocation if market movements cause it to drift.
What is a quarterly rebalance?
Every April, July, October, and January, we review all portfolios after distributions. If your portfolio has shifted out of line, you’ll receive a ROT to review and sign before the rebalance goes ahead.
Why didn’t I get a rebalance this quarter?
This usually means your portfolio was already in line with its model allocation, or your balance didn’t meet the $200 trade minimum.
